Aval Nanachathu/ Sweet Poha

This is the brand i used

This is one of the neivedhyams[prasad] we get when we go to Krishna temples in kerala. It tastes so yummy. Also during srikrishnajayanti and Navaratri my mom makes this as prasad.

Ingredients:

Broken Matta Rice Flakes-1 cup

Jaggery-1/4 cup powdered

Water-3 tbs

Fresh Grated Coconut- 1/2 cup

Cardamom-seeds from 4 pods

Butter-2 tbs

Raisin-1/4 cup

Method:

Wash the Aval/Rice flakes/Poha and set aside.

In a pan add the powdered jaggery with 3 tbs

water and on medium flame cook until the

jaggery is melted. Strain the jaggery syrup and

in the medium flame cook until the syrup starts

to get thick and bubbly.

Add the washed Avil/Poha ,stirring continuously

add the coconut, butter and cardamon seeds.Mix

well.Garnish with raisins. Remove from the flame

and serve warm.

Note:You can also fry the raisin in butter and add to the avil mixture to make it more rich.
