Tofu Burger with Onion Sauce
This simple , easy, kid-friendly vegetarian tofu burger's are a sure way to get your kids or anyone else in your family to eat tofu.
Ingredients for burgers [makes 8 burgers]
Firm Tofu - 14oz [squeeze out the excess water from the tofu}
Walnuts-2/3 cup chopped
Dried Parsley -1tsp
Black pepper powder-1 tsp[optional]
Preheat oven at 400 degrees.
Mash tofu with hands or potato masher and add all the ingredients and make a thick dough.Shape in to burgers and Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the burgers are
golden brown on a very lightly oiled cookie sheets with aluminium foil.To get the exact same size burgers i used an ice cream scope to scope out the burger dough.Let it cool for 10 minutes and remove from the pan.
Before the burger goes in to the oven
To make the Sauce:
Yellow onion-2 medium thinly chopped
Butter - 3tbs
In a pan add the butter ,when it melts add the onion and saute until onion are translucent.Now add the flour and salt and saute for 1 minute.Add the stock and put the lid and let it simmer for 15 minutes stirring occasionally until you get a thick sauce.
