Nellikkai [Amla] Arachu kalakkiyathu

When Nellikkai is in season my mom always makes this.This is easy to make and yummy to eat. If you like sweet,sour and bitter in one bite you will enjoy this curry.


Amla/Nellikkai-5 [ I used frozen ones]

Fresh Grated Coconut-1/2 cup

Green chillies-3

For seasoning

Mustard seeds-1tsp
Curry leaves-few
Red chillies-2
Coconut oil-2tsp

Curd-3/4 cup or more


If you are using frozen Nellikkai:
In a microwave safe bowl add water and nellikkai and microwave on high for 3 minutes or until Nellikkai is soft.Drain the water and remove the seeds from the Nellikkai.
In a blender grind together the nellikkai,coconut,green chillies and yogurt to a fine paste.
In a pan add the oil and seasoning,when it splutters add it to the arachu kalakki.
If the curry is too thick add more yogurt or water to make it thin.
Goes well with rice,dosai...
