Olan

Olan

This is one of the traditional kerala sadhya recipes. There are different variations for this dish .Some make it with red beans[chuvanna payaru] ,some make it with pumpkin etc .I like to make this version because it is easy to make and tastes delicious.

Ingredients:

Winter melon/elavan - 2 cups[peeled and sliced into small chunck]

Green chillies -2-3 split in to half

Ginger - 1 tsp sliced

Coconut milk - 1cup

curry leaves -6-8

coconut oil-1tbs

Salt -to taste

Method:

Cook the winter melon ,green chillies, ginger ,salt with enough water.

Drain the water and add the coconutmilk, curryleaves and bring to boiling point. Remove from flame and add coconut oil.

This goes to Ramki's "Recipes for the rest of us" event.

Hello Dhanya! This is an excellent in-between meal for me!

Ever since I became health conscious, in-between meals became a scarcity. I like the ingredients. I think they're healthy.

Of course they're healthy! You're using coconut oil and coconut milk. ;-)

Just my two cents.
