This is the way i make kara vadai. It tastes something similar to uzhundhuvadai.It is an uzhundhuvadai without a hole.:).
Uraddal - 1/2cup
Rice flour -2tbs
water - 4tbs
salt - totaste
green chillies -1[thinly sliced]
ginger - 1/2tsp thinly sliced
black pepper powder - 1/4tsp
curry leaves - 5 [thinly chopped]
Soak the dal in water for 1 1/2 hours. Grind it with 4 tbs water until it is very smooth. Now add the rice flour,greenchillies,ginger and curryleaves.
In a pan add vegetable oil and when the oil is hot take a spoonful of the mixture and drop it in the oil. When one side of the vadai is golden colour flip it over and cook the other sides until the vadai is crispy outside and cooked inside in medium flame.
serve warm with coconut chutney.
