Tomato Rice/ Thakali Chatham
This is one of the Dhidir rice's you can make when you are in a hurry.It is very easy to make a tastes delicious.This sadam goes well with Curd and appalam.
Ingredients
Basmati rice-1cup
Tomatoes-2 medium thinly chopped
Onion-1/2 cup thinly chopped
Garlic-1 clove[optional]thinly chopped
Green chillies-2
Sambar power-1/2 tbs
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Hing-a pinch
For seasoning
Mustard seeds-1tsp
Red chillies-2
Oil/ ghee-2tbs
Salt-to taste
coriander leaves-chopped 2 tbs
Cashew-handful to garnish
Method:
Cook the rice with 2 cups of water .Set aside.
In a pan add oil/ghee,mustard seeds and red
chillies.When it splutters add the onion
and garlic and saute until onion are
translucent. Add the tomatoes,turmeric ,green
chillies and saute until tomatoes are soft.
Add the sambar powder,hing,salt and
cooked rice.Mix well.Garnish with
coriander leaves and Cashews.
