Mullanghi Sambhar




This sambhar is very easy to make, Mullanghi is a vegetables which you can get from indian stores.

Kerala mullanghi Sambhar

toordhal-1/2 cup cooked in pressure cooker
tamarind-a small lemon size
turmeric-1tsp
salt-to taste

sambhar powder-1 1/2 tbs[u can add more if u like it very spicy]
hing-1/2tsp

curry leaves-7-8
corriander leaves-to garnish

vegetables:

mullanghi-1 medium size peel and cut in to thin slices
shallots-3-4 cut in to half

Method:

In a container soak tamarind in 1 1/2 cups warm water.squeeze and make a pulp.Add the tamarind pulp,vegetables and turmeric powder cook until the mullanghi is fully cooked. Now add the cooked toor dal and mix well. Add salt and sambhar powder.Let it come to a full boil now add hing and remove the pan from the flame. Add the curry leaves and coriander leaves.

Makes a good side dish for rice ,dosa's and idli's.
