Badam Halwa

Yesterday I was relaxing a little bit in the evening and was checking all those wonderful blogs. I came across Swapna's blog. and she has made a yummy Halwa that day. Around 3-4'o clock in the evening I happen to have a problem called "Sugar Rush" hehe...At that time I have to have some thing sugary.Something in my head was saying go......make it.NOW... :0. Don't know why. So I went downstairs and started making this Halwa.Swapna's suggests to soak the Almond for 2 hours. You thing I had that much time to let it soak? Oh no.What I did is Boiled some water and added the Almonds and put a lid on it. In five minutes the skin of Almonds are soft and they come out easily. The halwa came out very nice. So I thought of sharing her wonderful recipe. Thank you so much Swapna. Here is the recipe

Ingredients :

Badam - 1 cup
Sugar - 1 cup
Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
Ghee - 4 tbsp [ I used 2 more tbs of ghee]
Milk - 1/4 cup
Saffron - a pinch

Method:

Soak the almonds in the water for at least 2 hrs. And peel off the skin.

Grind the peeled almonds with 1/4 cup of milk.

Heat 2 tbsp of ghee in the non-stick pan, add the almond paste & stir continuously.

Add sugar & saffron. Keep stirring, till ghee starts separating at the sides.

At this stage add 2 more tbsp of ghee along with the food color. Keep stirring till u get the desired halwa consistency.

Finally, add cardamom powder.

Spread them in the greased bowl & allow them to cool.
